Seventh Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region was organised in Sofia, Bulgaria on 18 – 19 October 2018 as a key event of the Bulgarian 2018 EUSDR Presidency, together with the European Commission and in cooperation with Danube Transnational Programme.
The main focus of the event was on tourism development as a precondition to economic growth and territorial cohesion. It covered topics of particular importance for the Danube region related to preservation of cultural and historical heritage, new technologies and digitalization in tourism sector, ensuring safety and security in tourism, transport connectivity and mobility.
DCC Chairperson of the Board, Ms Gordana Plamenac, participated in the first panel “Measures for Development and Conservation of Cultural Heritage – added value for achieving economic growth and employment”, moderated by Mrs Vittoria Alliata di VILLAFRANCA, Director of Administrative Capacity Building and Programme Implementation II, DG REGIO, European Commission.
Ms Plamenac highlighted challenges to cross-border regions in the geographical scope of the EUSDR, focusing on the preservation of cultural heritage.
