One more year in a row, the Danube Competence Center was present at the world’s leading travel trade show, the ITB Berlin that took place from March 6th until March 10th, 2019 at Messe Berlin.

Our stand was located in Hall 4.1 dedicated to Adventure Travel & Responsible Tourism. The exhibitors in this hall are focused on travel which facilitates experiencing nature and discovering personal insights of the host country’s culture, while simultaneously making a contribution towards environmental protection and the well-being of the population. This seemed as a perfect match for us as a project partner in “Central Danube Tour – Enhancing the Tourism Development in the Central Danube Cross-border Region” project, co-financed by European Union. The aim of the project is to encourage the tourism development in the cross-border area by increasing the quality and diversity of the tourist offer through the creation and promotion of the Middle Danube Region as a common trans-boundary tourist destination, creation of the new cross-border thematic routes, stakeholders networking, increasing the knowledge and capacity of project participants and valorising the tourism potential of the entire cross-border region. Both project and partners’ promotional materials were presented at our stand.

Thanks to DCC members and partners from Deutsche Donau, Donaubuero, National Tourism Organisation of Serbia and Odysseia-In Bulgaria, the presentation of the Danube region was even more comprehensive.

Also, for the eighth year in a row, the Danube Competence Center organised a comprehensive package of promotional and networking activities, called “Danube@ITB“ in cooperation with the partner-countries and the ITB. This set of activities promotes the touristic offer of the Danube and creates a joint platform for increased cooperation between partners from the Danube region. Partners in 2019 edition of this package were German National Tourist Board, Danube Austria & Linz Tourism, Hungarian Tourism Agency, National Tourism Organisation of Serbia, Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Romania and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The main module of the package in 2019 is well known Danube Passport Game – prize game that encourage visitors to visit the stands of the partner countries to find out more about the Destination Danube and to take a chance to win some prize. More information about this package may be found on the dedicated page on our site – link.
