The Danube Competence Center (DCC), as the National EuroVelo Coordination Centre for Serbia, attended the annual EuroVelo General Meeting (EVGM) held on 23 September 2024 in Viborg, Denmark. With 60 participants, it was the largest gathering to date, showcasing the growing interest in EuroVelo across Europe.

Key topics included updates on the network, the introduction of an open data license for GPX tracks, and the promotion of cycling tourism across Europe. Notably, Germany and Italy upgraded to full National EuroVelo Coordination Centres, and a proposal for a GPX tracks license was approved, promoting wider public use under an open data policy.

During the “successes and challenges” session, DCC highlighted recent achievements in Serbia, including the construction of dedicated cycling tracks between Bela Crkva and Golubac, and the upcoming completion of the fast railway from Belgrade to Budapest. This railway will allow bicycles on all trains, making it easier for cyclists to plan their trips along the Danube and beyond.

The next EVGM will be held in 2025 in Balatonfüred, Hungary, along Lake Balaton and EuroVelo 14.
