Project Description

The Iron Curtain Trail is a 6,800km long cycle route that traces the Iron curtain, a border that once divided Europe into East and West, stretching from the Barents Sea to the Black Sea.

At an international level, this project aims to unite, through cycle tourism, the regions of South-Eastern Europe, with a long-distance route along European border areas and support alternative and sustainable transport through the development of the Iron Curtain Trail.

At a national level, the project aims to offer decision makers at central, regional and local levels a practical tool for supporting both the further development of the tourism potential and highlighting newly identified resources not yet capitalised from a cycle tourism perspective.
