After more than 8 months of work within the National Cycling Working Group (NCWG), the final document of the National Cycling Strategy of the Republic of Serbia was created as a part of the Danube Cycle Plans project.
Finally, the document was prepared in full compliance with the applicable regulations of the Republic of Serbia and the requirements for harmonization of this strategic document with other strategic documents.
Significant contribution to the creation of the strategy was given by the guidelines for the creation of national strategies, as well as other important documents from the European Union that deal with transport, traffic, and urban mobility.
More than 40 members, representatives of the academic, business, non-governmental and governmental sectors, participated in the work of the NCWG. The contribution of activist cycling organizations and the PE “Serbia Roads” as a company that should bear the greatest burden in the construction of future cycling infrastructure throughout the country is visible.
This document should enable a wide range of activities of all organizations and institutions in the direction of creating a favourable climate for the development of cycling in the Republic of Serbia, and its official adoption is expected by the end of the year.
